Solo Weekend + Baby Countdown

Another week come and gone already! This week was really busy around here and seemed to just fly by!

We are officially less than 3 weeks away from meeting this baby, and it is blowing my mind! I looked at the calendar and told Ben we have 2 weekends left to hang out as a family of 3 (this weekend will be dedicated to finishing up some projects around the house). We are totally ready at this point...hospital bag packed, nursery complete, my new pump just arrived from our insurance company, so come on baby!

I am very interested to see if I go into labor before my scheduled c-section. This would be new territory for me because I had to be induced with Lucy. Not that I have a say in the matter, but part of me wants to know what it would be like for my body to go into labor on its own and the other part of me loves the idea of having it all planned out and going in for my surgery. Time will tell :)

Last weekend Ben and Lucy headed back to Tennessee for a couple days to see a family member who is very ill. I wanted so badly to be able to go back with them but after a week of some true contractions off and on I knew I needed to stay back "just in case". So that meant a quiet, possibly relaxing couple of days for this momma! I immediately thought of all the things I could get done, but Ben reminded me that I needed to take the time to really relax and kick my feet up.

With that said, here is a look at a few things that went down over the weekend...

First things first...homemade pancakes with some yummy iced coffee! I made a nice big batch so I could freeze some for Lucy too. It was so so weird sitting down to eat breakfast in the quiet!

I read this verse from my devo in the morning and decided to post it up on the chalkboard. Good reminder :)

The dreaded washing of bottles and pump parts...ay-yi-yi...so glad this is done!

I wanted to get Ben some sort of "hospital survival kit" that was filled with goodies for him so I went out and bought a ton of sweets and treats that he loves with a couple things thrown in there for me. I ended up putting it aside in our pantry because I realized our hospital stay will look a bit differently this time as Ben will be back and forth a lot to care for Lucy. I decided to throw it in the pantry so that he has easy access to it as he is coming and going, but truth be told, he has already gotten into one bag of gummy bears, go figure ha!

It felt great to be so productive, especially in that short period of time. There is no telling when that will happen again. But I missed my two babies!! I actually sobbed like an awesome, hormonal pregnant woman as I said good bye to them at the airport and continued to have my sob fest about 20 more minutes into the drive back home. I have never been away from Lucy for more than probably 18 hours and that has just been for one overnight here and there with Ben when our family is in town to stay with her. It's crazy how a kid can sometimes make you want to pull your hair out and you sometimes day dream of having some kid-free time, then it comes and you miss them like crazy! Man oh man, that little girl has my heart!

Here are some pictures of her while she was away...

Needless to say, I was ready for some one on one time with her and thankfully she missed me too and was incredibly attached to me all week...melt my heart!

So there was an awesome park play date to be had...

Love this sweet angel oh so much...so much that I couldn't tell her no when she wanted to go down the big slide in my lap 47,852 times, no matter how hard it was to crouch down and fit through the opening, or how bad it hurt my tail bone every.single.time.

And just for the record, I missed Ben pretty bad too. Just sayin' baby! :)

Life Lately...

Man oh man, time has flown by since I last posted. There have been a lot of home projects, nursery decorating, getting some of Lucy's stuff out of the basement to get ready for the baby, and just general "nesting" going on around here. Now it's time to come up for air so we can be rested (if that's possible) and ready for the baby to come in about three and a half weeks.

Ben and I lay in bed at night and wonder where the time has gone. We can't believe that our sweet Lucy is turning into such a big girl, and yet we are about to go through the newborn stage again with another one when it seems like we were in it with Lucy just yesterday. Friends did tell me that the saying, "time flies" brings on a whole new meaning once you have kids, and boy is that true!

I am savoring every last minute with my precious Lucy in these next few weeks before she gives up the title of "only child'. As I've said before I can't wait to add another bundle of joy to our family and see Lucy in the role of big sister, but as d-day draws near I find myself having more and more bittersweet moments knowing her and I's time together will look different once our family grows.

She is at such a fun age (I think I say this at every age though)! Here is a glimpse of what she's been up to lately.

As we pulled stuff out of the basement we also packed away most of Lucy's winter clothes, but she didn't want to part with everything ;)

This was a fun afternoon at the park. Daddy came home early from work, which we love so we got to go on a little park date as a family. This little girl loves her daddy! I think he gets bonus points nowadays too because he can fit down the slide and in the swing with her and has endless energy like her to keep up ;) This park date also ended with a trip for some fro yo...BEFORE dinner! Whoop whoop!

Speaking of her love for her daddy :) We really need to buy her a play lawn mower so she can follow him around in the yard. If daddy is doing it, and it involves being outside its a double bonus!

She looks so grown up in this picture...and just like daddy's mini me, which we already knew.

She also finally got her first haircut! Yay! I procrastinated getting it done because her hair is long enough to put in pigtails (which is freakin adorable) and I didn't want someone to butcher it. She did awesome though, and the lady that cut it just cleaned up the ends so mommy was still satisfied with the length. Win, win!

Can we talk about how much we love sweets in our house?! I have always had a huge sweet tooth, tack on pregnancy and look out! Ben has a sweet tooth too, but I definitely give him a run for his money ;) So our kid...yep, makin' momma proud! She just about took down the entire drumstick! Since this photo, I have gone to Costco to buy the big box of Nestle desserts. We don't like to share when it comes to dessert ;)

This picture almost doesn't need words. It really describes her spunky little personality pretty well I'd say. She is my little firecracker! I can't wait to have my energy back so I can keep up with her and join in all her shenanigans!
