A Day In The Life...

I really enjoy reading other people's "day in the life" posts so I thought it would be fun to do one of my own.

I have really been trying to focus on soaking up all this individual time with Lucy that I have left over the next 3 months. As excited as I am to have another little blessing coming along, I am really going to miss my endless time with Lucy. It has made me want to do so many more fun things with her in the next few months.

Here is a typical day for us right now...while the Colorado weather has been gorgeous! ;)

7:00am- Force myself to get out of bed, Lucy has typically been stirring around for about 10-20 minutes now.

7:15am- Lucy and I head out to the kitchen to get breakfast going for both of us. This morning, oatmeal and fruit for her. We are currently working on our spoon skills ;)

8:00am- We get out a bunch of toys to play with while momma drinks her coffee.

9:30am- By this time, we are both usually dressed and we tidy up a bit before we get out of the house to play. We either walk around the neighborhood or go to the park for some fresh air. Yesterday was a park day so today we take Daisy and stroll around the neighborhood for a while. Lucy could do this for a long time. She loves picking up rocks, pine cones, and sticks and throwing them into the street.

11:00am- Lunch time! We both sit down and somewhat eat together. My kid inhales her food so usually by the time I finish making my lunch she is done with hers, but we try to have that "family" lunch thing going for us. After this we do some type of activity that allows her to wind down a bit before her afternoon nap. We'll do puzzles, read books, or color for a little while.

12:00pm- Nap time! Lucy is down to one nap a day now but we are still working on pushing back her nap time. I would love to get her nap time pushed back closer to one and I know we'll get there eventually, but for now she is usually pretty wiped out and ready for a snooze at noon. During this time I try to get done what all moms do (everything right?!) but this afternoon I decide that I can't keep my eyes open either so after a little laundry I lay down on the couch to try and snooze. Lucy is pretty consistent at sleeping an hour and a half right now so about 30 minutes into my nap I hear her on the monitor.

1:30pm- As soon as I hear Lucy on the monitor I want to kick myself for taking my little cat nap because now I feel super groggy, but I go in and greet my little munchkin with a smile and she returns the favor :)

2:00pm- Groggy feeling is not going away so I convince myself that it will be ok if I have a second cup of coffee just this one day! Time for a Starbucks run with all the girls!

2:30pm- We get back home and since the weather is still nice we head out into the backyard for some playtime while momma sips on her yummy iced coffee and feels the baby doing crazy back flips from  the extra dose of caffeine.

One of Lucy's favorite things to do in our backyard is step on and off our patio step thats right off of our back door. She gets a big kick out of it and could do this for an hour.

Gotta love that sweet little hand reaching our for momma's finger every time she wants to get down.

4:00pm- We head inside, play some more, and rehydrate while momma catches her breath. Good gracious, am I getting easily winded these days!

5:00pm- Usually around this time, I start on dinner. Recently, we discovered Lucy's love for the movie Finding Nemo. I'm not big on letting her sit in front of the tv to watch things but this is great for while I'm trying to cook dinner. It really only holds her attention for about 15 minutes but that allows me enough time to get food started and figure out another activity for us to do while I try to finish up dinner.

Tonight, she doodles on the chalkboard for a bit, then mostly puts the chalk in the bag and dumps it out and repeats ;)

5:45pm- Ben is home from work whoo-hoo!! We usually have a little dance party when he gets home. Currently we play Thriller and Daddy and Lucy dance while I get dinner on the table. Ben taught Lucy how to put her hands up from the Thriller dance then they move back and forth across the kitchen doing it. It's quite possibly the funniest thing ever!

6:15pm- Lucy gets in the tub for her bath. She loves taking a bath and usually cries when it's time to get out. After this, we brush teeth and read books before bedtime.

7:00pm- Bedtime! Lucy sacks out pretty quickly then Ben and I have some time to relax before my tired, pregnant self calls it a night around 9:30. Kind of lame, I know.

It's only been a few weeks since I stopped working, but it has been fun so far and I'm loving my time with my little Lucy!
